Cayman National receives Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation

The Cyber Essentials scheme is a simple yet effective, UK Government backed framework which is run in association with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

The scheme is based around just 5 essential security controls (covering firewalls, security configurations, malware-protection, user control access and patch management) that, when implemented correctly, help to protect an organisation against a range of the most common internet based cyber-attacks. It is increasingly becoming a mandatory requirement for acceptance onto numerous supplier frameworks, with certification evidencing an organisation’s commitment to cyber security.

“Cyber security is probably one of the biggest single threats facing financial services organisations today”, said Kurt Roosen, Head of IT and Operations for Cayman National in the Isle of Man. “Whilst obtaining Cyber Essentials Plus certification is an important step in showing our commitment to data security, it is only part of a long journey”, he added. “The threat from malicious actors is constantly evolving so multiple systems and processes are now being deployed to guard against cyber-attacks. However, Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation provides independent verification of how seriously we take the threat, as we continually develop our defences in order to protect both Cayman National and its clients.

Note: ‘Cyber Essentials’ is a simple but effective, UK Government backed scheme to help protect organisations, whatever their size, against a whole range of the most common cyber-attacks. It offers two levels of certification, as promoted by the National Cyber Security Centre. Further details can be found at https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/cyberessentials/overview
